Places to Eat

Eat Delicious Food

This is where you eat like someone who knows better. No sad waterfront traps with frozen fish, laminated menus, and a hostess aggressively pushing the catch of the day like it is a timeshare. These are the spots with real flavor, real standards, and food actually worth putting on pants for. Come hungry, skip the gimmicks, and enjoy the kind of meal that makes you feel smug for not falling for the usual tourist nonsense.

Heritage

Heritage is one of those places that just gets it right. The room stays buzzing, the pizzas come out hot and sexy, the housemade pasta actually matters, and even the salads have enough personality to avoid feeling like a punishment. Add good cocktails and beer to the mix, and you have one of Fort Lauderdale’s easiest must tries.

MAASS Restaurant at The Four Seasons

MAASS brings bold, contemporary wood fired cooking with European and Japanese influences, and thankfully it is not all smoke and self importance. Its Chef’s Counter earned a Michelin Star in 2025, so the hype is not just expensive furniture and a dramatic wine pour.

Anthony’s Runway 84

Anthony’s Runway 84 is where South Florida’s transplanted New Yorkers go to eat old school Italian and temporarily forget they chose Florida. Expect great veal parm, meatballs, pasta, clams, lasagna, tableside Caesar salad, cannoli, cheesecake, a lively bar, and live music with just the right amount of chaos. Make a reservation, or you might be sleeping with the fishes right next to Luca Brasi.

The Doughfellas – Pompano Beach

It is pizza o’clock somewhere, and if you are lucky, that somewhere is The Doughfellas. This place is serving fresh ingredients, slow fermented dough, and the kind of pie that makes you close your eyes after the first bite like you have just made a terrible but exciting decision. It is family owned, full of charm, and turning out some of the best damn pizza in Broward without acting like it needs a TED Talk about it. Come hungry, flirt with the menu, and support a local spot that knows exactly how to treat you right.

Lasso Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse

Come hungry, wear something with a little forgiveness, and let Lasso Gaucho absolutely ruin your standards for mediocre steak forever. This is the kind of Brazilian steakhouse that does not play games, just a nonstop parade of juicy rodizio meats, strong mixed drinks, cold brews, and service that actually knows how to keep the good times moving. If you leave hungry, that feels personal.

The Katherine Restaurant

The Katherine feels like the kind of dinner party you wish you got invited to, only with better cocktails and no boring people cornering you with their life story. The space is intimate, the service is warm, and the menu pulls from Indian, Caribbean, and Mexican influences in a way that should not work this well, but absolutely does. One minute it is clam chowder fries, the next it is Thai style crab rice, and somehow the whole thing feels sexy, clever, and completely unbothered. Fort Lauderdale does not have nearly enough spots like this. Go hungry, get a drink, and for the love of good decisions, order the burger.

Luigi’s Coal Oven Pizza

Born in Naples and now blessing Fort Lauderdale, Chef Luigi DiMeo is not here to babysit your bad pizza standards. This place brings the heat with a proper coal oven, beautiful ingredients, and pies that taste like Italy would actually approve. Frankly, some pizzas should be embarrassed to be in the same city.

TAKATO

OKU, the hidden private omakase room inside Takato, is the kind of place that reminds you Fort Lauderdale can in fact get very sexy when it wants to. Helmed by Executive Chef Taek Lee, this exclusive little setup delivers a seriously elevated experience without the usual overhyped fine dining nonsense. Reservations are absolutely required, unless you enjoy being told no.

J&C Oyster

J&C Oyster knows oysters are an aphrodisiac, and thankfully, the rest of the place rises to the occasion. Sexy vibes, cool cocktails, mouthwatering shareables, and great service make this one of those spots where dinner very easily turns into something a lot more interesting. If this place were your boyfriend, he would drive a very fast, very expensive car, and the second that engine started, your seat would hum with joy. It is flirty, delicious, and exactly the kind of night you may need to apologize for later.

Larb Thai-Isan

Love Thai food? Then stop wasting your time at mediocre spots pretending to be the answer. Larb Thai Isan is the real deal in the Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach area, serving bold Northeastern Thai dishes like pad kee mao noodles and duck curry without the fluff, the fuss, or the fake hype. Do not skip it!

Southport Raw Bar & Restaurant

Southport is a salty little dockside legend with raw bar favorites, cold beer, wine, and absolutely no interest in pretending to be polished. If this place were your girlfriend, you would adore her, have a hell of a good time, and be just a little nervous introducing her to your family. That is part of the charm. It is casual, classic, and a lot more memorable than the buttoned-up spots trying too hard nearby.

Pura Vida Miami

When it is time to pay, go ahead and pretend you need the bathroom and let your friend take the hit. You know what they say, healthy food is expensive food. But trust us, this stuff is worth losing your entire friends and family over. Their overpriced acai bowls are so addictive, you will find yourself rationalizing a twenty-dollar breakfast like you are pitching it to investors.

Blue Steel Pizza Marina Village

Detroit style square pies in the 954? Hell yes. Because apparently round pizza was just not doing enough. Blue Steel is serving thick, crispy, cheesy little squares that hit so hard you will start wondering if circles were a mistake.

My Favorite Animal is Steak!

This section is for the carnivores, the red wine people, and anyone who hears the word ribeye and suddenly gets a little emotional. These steakhouses are where the martinis are cold, the servers know exactly what they are doing, and the meat arrives looking like it has a trust fund. Come hungry, dress like you have standards, and prepare to spend an unreasonable amount of money on a beautiful piece of beef you will defend with your whole chest. No regrets. Just protein.

Diplomat Prime Steak & Seafood

Diplomat Prime is what happens when a resort steakhouse actually gets it right. It feels polished, a little fancy, and very ready to impress. Come hungry and a little shameless because the 38-ounce Tomahawk Ribeye is the kind of steak that turns heads. Not in a beef mood? The King Salmon with harissa vinaigrette and the tuna tartare with kalamata olive mousse are no side characters.

Council Oak Steaks & Seafood (in Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood)

Be it a special date night with unparalleled vistas of the Guitar Hotel or a post-gambling win splurge, this steakhouse at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is a total winner. Among a menu of U.S.D.A. dry aged cuts, its Japanese A5 ribeye from the Kumamoto Prefecture is among the rarest beef on planet Earth. It’s worth the splurge and pairing with some duck fat hash browns or lobster mac.

Steak 954

The best steakhouse on Fort Lauderdale Beach goes to this modern gem led by chef Matthew Kreider. Highlights include a fine caviar service, a totally lux cheesesteak (with truffled cheese wiz-topped wagyu), and an extensive selection of wagyu cuts. And with the beach literally across the street and a massive jellyfish tank inside, the vistas aren’t too shabby, either.

Rick’s Steakhouse & Lounge

A steakhouse in a strip club sounds like a terrible life choice, and yet here we are. Rick’s Steakhouse at Scarlett’s is actually the real deal, with a sexy lounge vibe, a pool table in the middle of the action, and serious cuts like an 18-ounce Angus ribeye and a 44-ounce Tomahawk that mean business.
